See Taylor Momsen guest on Lily Cornell Silver's Mind Wide Open mental health interview series

Taylor Momsen and Chris Cornell's daughter Lily reflect on "mutual losses, the importance of passions, and tools for making it through our darkest periods".

Lily Cornell Silver has unveiled yet another important episode of Mind Wide Open, following interviews with everyone from Duff McKagan to Eddie Vedder.

In episode 26 of her mental health interview series, Chris Cornell's daughter is joined by The Pretty Reckless' Taylor Momsen to discuss their shared experiences of loss and grief, and the road to recovery.

"I had the pleasure of having a very meaningful conversation with my friend Taylor Momsen about our mutual losses, the importance of passions, and tools for making it through our darkest periods," announces Lily. "This episode is for anyone who’s ever felt like they couldn’t make it through. I’m so glad you’re still here. Sadly, Taylor explains in their conversation that the start of one of the darkest periods of her life began when Lily's dad passed away in 2017.

"We were opening for Soundgarden, which, to me, was the highest of highs," she remembers. "Respect is not the right word; I love your father, I love their music, I love Soundgarden so much, to my core that I still don't know how to put it into words. To be on that tour opening for them was just the most incredible honour and experience of my life. Obviously, it ended tragically."

Detailing her long journey through grief – which was also tragically impacted when her producer Kato Khandwala lost his life in a motorcycle accident the same year that Chris died – Taylor states that recovery ultimately happens when you open up to others about what you're going through.

"Talking to people about mental health is the first step on the road to healing," she says.

Sharing their conversation, Taylor also wrote: "Especially after the year we have all had mental health is a real issue and Lily is doing a wonderful job having open conversations with some excellent guests, it was a pleasure talking to her."
