This Korn x The Lion King Mashup Is Weirdly Haunting And Uplifting At The Same Time

Korn's Freak On A Leash mashed with The Circle Of Life from The Lion King is oddly quite good

You can mashup pretty much anything these days. So far this year we've had Justin Bieber x Tool, Green Day x Steamed Hams from The Simpsons, Deftones x Britney Spears and Slipknot x The Spice Girls. All of them ridiculous, but mostly enjoyable. But this latest offering from the YouTube gods is more confusing than anything else because it toys with your moods.

Korn's Freak On A Leash is an angst-ridden, nu-metal anthem, that pulsates with darkness and throws fists into the air. The Circle Of Life, from The Lion King, is one of the most upbeat, joyous pieces of music ever included in a Disney movie. Together? Well... we'll let you be the judge.

YouTuber William Maranci has mixed together Jonathan Davis' vocals from Freak On A Leash with the instrumentals from The Lion King to create what he has creatively titled The Lion Korn. You can just about hear JD's daboom nanima scatting underpinning it all, while the original score (including flute solo) twists its way around the Tim Rice/Elton John score.

Check it out for yourself.

Korn are the subject of the very first Kerrang! Inside Track podcast, telling the story behind their 1994 debut album with insight from the band and producer Ross Robinson.
