Tom DeLonge says new Angels & Airwaves single is "very" Box Car Racer

The first single from Angels & Airwaves' new album is "very" Box Car Racer, according to Tom DeLonge.

After teasing a couple of weeks back that Angels & Airwaves' long-awaited new album is the band's "best yet", Tom DeLonge has now revealed that the first single from the record will sound a lot like one of his other projects: Box Car Racer.

Responding to a fan on Twitter who posted that they wished Box Car – completed by David Kennedy and blink-182's Travis Barker – had continued following their 2002 self-titled debut, Tom teases, "Stay tuned then for this first single from the new Angels & Airwaves album.

"Very BCR and that’s also why Rich Costey is mixing it, because he mixed the BCR album… As he gave it that feel you are describing."

Tom previously hinted that there was a Box Car Racer-sounding AVA track on the way, sharing a snippet on Instagram in October 2019. Could this be the same song he's referring to?!

The musician also told Kerrang! that, "This next record is probably going to be the best of my life.

"I have a lot to say, and I’ve been gone for a while, so I feel like I’m more prolific a songwriter than I’ve ever been," he explained. "Angels & Airwaves aren’t pigeonholed into any one particular sound, and our fans are absolutely feverish about what we do and the message of the band. They really support who we are, so it’s a really great spot to be in."
