Watch Evanescence's Disturbing New Video For The Game Is Over

Evanescence have unleashed a trippy and at times creepy new video for their latest single, The Game Is Over.

Following on from the release of their new single The Game Is Over earlier this week, Evanescence have premiered a disturbing music video to accompany the music.

The P.R. Brown-directed effort – which was obviously filmed by the band while in quarantine, making it an even more impressive watch – perfectly encapsulates the message of the track, with vocalist Amy Lee explaining: “This song is about being sick of the facade.

Quiz: How well do you know Evanescence's lyrics?

“The disguises we wear for others to make them feel comfortable, the inside feelings being so different than what we show on the outside to fit within the boundaries of what’s socially acceptable, or what’s not going to make you unpleasant or too ‘weird’ to be around.

“The Game Is Over is a promise to myself and out loud that I’m going to be more of my real, inner self on the outside–not lock her up because she can’t be contained anymore. It’s also a prayer to become better, to not feel so messed up, locked up, and hurt inside.”

As a press release regarding the new clip adds, The Game Is Over's video details “the mental darkness behind the false smiles. It's a disturbing, Technicolor tribute to the light at the end of the tunnel – if you're willing to face the terrors that line its walls”.

The Game Is Over follows previous 2020 single Wasted On You, with both songs set to feature on Evanescence's upcoming album The Bitter Truth – which will be released “incrementally throughout 2020”.
