Watch Lamb Of God's First Show Of The Year, Including Debut Performance Of Checkmate

Lamb Of God streamed their first show of 2020 live from Chicago – and the setlist was bonkers

This weekend, Lamb Of God celebrated Valentine's Day in style with their first show of the year at the House Of Vans in Chicago.

The Virginia heavyweights raged through a hellacious 13-song set that spanned their catalogue, unleashing the bruising Laid To Rest, Ruin and Walk With Me In Hell in quick succession.

But that's not all, LOG also performed their new single Checkmate live for the very first time. It's the first song to be released from their upcoming self-titled album, and as Randy Blythe told Kerrang! recently, it's the most political track on the LP.

“It’s the most on the nose politically, but this whole record is political,” said Randy.

“There’s not a single song [on the album] about an individual. When we had [George W. Bush] during the (2004 album) Ashes Of The Wake era, he was a whole lot easier to write specifics about because we had the war in Iraq, the mythical weapons of mass destruction, but right now, the political world everywhere looks like Peewee Herman’s playhouse.

“They are two sides of the same coin,” he continued. “Civility and discourse is at an all time low, and that’s because people view political parties now not for their policies, but they support these different parties like sports teams. The lyrics reflect that. The system is a fucking fraud.”
