Watch Metallica's Lars Ulrich Surprise A COVID-19 Nurse

Lars Ulrich surprised a Metallica superfan on the latest instalment of Jimmy Kimmel's #HealthCareHero segment, while also teasing the upcoming release of S&M2.

After Dave Grohl gave a Foo Fighters fan one hell of a heartwarming surprise during the #HealthCareHero segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live, now Metallica's Lars Ulrich is spreading the joy, thanking a COVID-19 nurse with a super-lovely Zoom appearance and the promise of the "VIP treatment of a lifetime".

Lars tuned in to Jimmy's chat with Tracey Bednar, a pediatric ICU nurse who has been working with children who are battling coronavirus every single day. Not only has this amazing Long Island key worker been playing such an important role during the pandemic, but she also reveals that on her drives to and from the hospital, she blasts Metallica on high volume – her favourite song being Enter Sandman (a solid choice, obviously).

As the drummer appears during Tracey's interview with Jimmy, he says, “As a father of three, I can’t thank you enough for what you do. I’ve been sitting here listening in for the last couple of minutes. All of us out here in San Francisco, my family and everywhere are so grateful for what you do. And thank you for having Metallica be a part of your life and your ride home.”

Not only does Lars thank her for everything she's been doing, he also invites her to join Metallica at their next New York show, as well as announcing that he is going to send Tracey the first signed copy of the band's upcoming S&M2 boxset – which he proudly shows to camera, and announces is coming in August. Absolutely awesome stuff all round!

"Thank you to Jimmy Kimmel for having me join the show tonight to celebrate #HealthCareHero of the week Tracey Bednar," wrote Lars on Instagram afterwards. "She is a pediatric ICU nurse on Long Island, has been going above and beyond during this crisis and also happens to be a huge Metallica fan.

"Tracey, thank you for what you do and your incredible contribution to your community. I can’t wait to give you the VIP treatment of a lifetime next time we play in the greater New York area."
