Watch Tool Play Their GRAMMY-Winning Song 7empest Live For The First Time

Check out fan-shot video of Tool playing their new song 7empest live for the first time.

Progressive metal legends Tool have been taking the world by storm since the release of their long-awaited, highly anticipated, 5K-rated album Fear Inoculum last year. The record -- Tool’s first album in 13 years -- placed at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart and went on to become the best-selling rock album of 2019. To continue their winning streak, Tool took home the GRAMMY for Best Metal Performance for their song 7empest this year. But they hadn’t played the track live until recently.

Tool finally gave the fifteen-minute-long 7empest its live debut on February 18 in Sydney, Australia, during their second show there. Here’s a fan-shot video of the performance:

This also wasn’t Tool's first GRAMMY -- they had won the award for Best Metal Performance in 1997 for Ænima and with Schism in 2001. That said, the band were more than grateful accepting their GRAMMY last month:

Fear Inoculum had been shrouded in mystery, clouded by rumors and interrupted by false starts until its release last year. But the band didn’t let any of that get in the way of their creative process.

No-one tells us what to do when it comes to our compositions because we’re so hard on each other,” said drummer Danny Carey. “Between the four of us that’s a big enough filter. As long as we pay attention to that then all will be good. We’ve never played to appease someone else. We have to be true to what we do between each other and the place we meet.”

Tool will be continuing their mostly sold-out tour across Australia and New Zealand with Author & Punisher, before heading to the U.S. next month. See them live -- and maybe catch 7empest -- on the following dates:
