Weezer appear in Netflix’s new Christmas film, Family Switch

All four members of Weezer – Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Scott Shriner and Brian Bell – make a surprise cameo in Family Switch, which is streaming on Netflix now!

This time last year, Weezer celebrated the festive period with their fourth and final SZNZ EP, entitled Winter. And in 2023 they’ve gone even further, getting in the Christmas spirit by appearing in Netflix’s new film Family Switch!

A spin on Freaky Friday starring the likes of Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms, the movie was released several days ago and has quickly shot up Netflix’s most-popular list. And rock fans are also flocking to see Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Scott Shriner and Brian Bell make a surprise cameo in the film, performing Santa Claus Is Coming To Town with Ed Helms’ character Bill Walker’s garage band Dad Or Alive.

Speaking to Tudum, Weezer fan and Family Switch director McG revealed of getting the band involved: “Rivers just came from a two-week silence retreat and is Harvard educated. He’s a terribly introspective man of few words. And I’m out there freaking out and jumping up and down and overextending my welcome at all times. We were sort of the fire and the ice, if you will. It made for a perfectly agreeable cup of water.”

Weezer themselves simply shared: “Got to jam with Ed Helms in Family Switch. Streaming now on Netflix.”
