Witch Fever say their second album “is well underway”
Following last year’s 5/5-rated debut album Congregation, Witch Fever are already working on a follow-up – and the band have shared some amazing cello playing, which we’re hoping makes the cut…
It’s already been an amazing and very busy summer for Witch Fever, but the band have revealed they’ve still found the time to get to work on a new album.
Following last year’s incredible, 5/5-rated debut Congregation, the Manchester doom-punks have teased that its follow-up is “well underway”, and they’ve also revealed that they are “obsessed with the cello” at the moment – you can hear almost a minute-and-a-half of Alex Thompson’s stunning playing below.
Earlier this year, in an extensive interview with Nova Twins, Witch Fever reflected on their triumphs as a band so far: “I love that I get to share my experiences with other women and non-binary people,” said Alex. “I think I’d be a completely different person if I wasn’t in the band, or if I was in a band with men. I’m very grateful I got to share that experience with other people who understand. The My Chem show was my favourite!”
“Even though we were just opening for them I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d play a stadium,” agreed vocalist Amy Walpole, “not only this early in our career, but at all.”
More recently, in a chat with Bob Vylan and High Vis, Amy reflected of where Witch Fever’s material was coming from, lyrically: “It’s kind of weird to be making shit that is really fun and you enjoy, but it has come out of stuff that is horrible.”
