Damnation Festival have announced that Electric Wizard will headline this year's event on November 4, and will be the British doom freaks' only UK show of 2023. Also announced are Norwegian black metal legends Enslaved, who will be performing their 1994 Vikingligr Veldi debut album in full.

"30 years after the the recording of our debut full-length, Vikingligr Veldi, we are ready to perform it in its entirety, for the first and last time in the UK!" say Enslaved. "Hope to see all our UK fans at Damnation. Alu Alu Laukar.”

Having moved from its old home at Leeds University to the bigger BEC in Manchester last year to become Europe's biggest indoor metal festival, the Wizard's return to Damnation in its new, arena-sized setting promises to be even more of a trip than previous appearances.

"Electric Wizard are a Damnation fans' favourite and since they last sold the festival out seven years ago they've continued their climb to the top of the doom ladder, headlining huge festivals across the globe," says organiser Gavin McInally. "It's now time to give them a platform fitting on their stature for a one-off UK show, with full arena production behind them.

"Only dabble in psychedelics in your brain can handle occult videos clips on a cinema screen while being pummelled by Funeralopolis."

The two bands join an already-stacked line-up featuring Amenra, Anaal Nathrakh, Sigh, Ahab, Downfall of Gaia, Rotten Sound, Deadguy, High Command, Heriot, Strigoi and Ashenspire.

In addition to their Saturday set, Deadguy will also be performing Fixation On A Coworker in full as part of Damnation's traditional Night Of Salvation pre-show the night before the main event. The evening will also feature a 20th-anniversary set from Brit metallers Viking Skull, plus more TBC.
