In Pictures: The Slayer Fans Of Download Festival

Slayer play their last-ever UK show tonight at Download festival

While tonight will be one of celebration as Tool return to Download for the first time since 2006, there’s also an air of sadness as we say our final goodbye to Slayer in the UK.

In a day boasting such metal heavyweights as Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Amon Amarth, Donington is close to turning into one big muddy mosh pit, but it’s the mighty Slayer that will send legions of die-hard metalheads into raptures tonight.

The brown, sticky ground of Download is awash with Slayer patch jackets, Slayer shirts and people just screaming the word “SLAYAAAAAAAAARGHHHHHHH!” at any given opportunity. But who are those people? We went for a trek around the site to find out.

Here are just some of the countless Slayer fans Download has to offer.
