Flame-throwing hands, sword fights with Eddie, a gallows, Bruce carrying a giant, lit-up crucifix during Sign Of The Cross: it was a great evening out.

Iron Maiden wrapped up their Legacy Of The Beast tour this weekend, with a UK tour that was, by some distance, their biggest stage show ever. We’ve all seen the pictures of the Spitfire that buzzes the stage during opener Aces High (complete with Bruce Dickinson resplendent in leather flying hat and goggles), but that was just the start. Flame-throwing hands, sword fights with Eddie, a gallows, Bruce carrying a giant, lit-up crucifix during Sign Of The Cross – it had everything.

If you saw it, you’ll know how awesome it was. Relive the awesomeness with this gallery of amazing shots by Andy Gallagher from the show at Birmingham’s Genting Arena last week.

Theirs is a story that takes in towering highs with soul-searching lows. One that features battles with life-threatening illness, extreme religious groups, countless pretenders to their throne – and, occasionally, each other. But through it all, the march of Iron Maiden has proved unstoppable.

With their spectacular Legacy Of The Beast tour coming to an end, this week's Kerrang! features full, uncensored history, album by album, of the band.
