Hayley Williams: "I Really Don’t Know What’s Next For Paramore"

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams has admitted that she "really doesn't know what's next" for the band.

Appearing at LA's Beautycon Festival this past Sunday promoting her goodDYEyoung brand, Hayley was asked about her cryptic Instagram posts back in June before she took a social media hiatus, and it lead her to explain where Paramore are at right now.

“My first creative outlet was music, and even though people are going to see me in this kind of space with Brian [O'Connor, hair artist] a lot more, I don’t want people to forget. I was like, ‘I’m just going to leave this here and see you guys on the flip side.’ I really don’t know what’s next for Paramore, but the guys and I just had dinner the other night at my house. I think we’re just really enjoying being friends and adult human beings at home by ourselves without music.

Hayley was also asked about the state of rock music in 2019 and if it's "still alive", and she responded: “Is it dead or alive? I don’t think it dies because I’m not really sure that rock’n’roll – or even punk rock, for that matter, which I’m a huge fan of – I don’t think it can be reduced to a phase or a genre of music. I really think it’s something very much like fashion and culture. It lives in people.

“I think, for us, one of the things we were talking about the other night is the shit we grew up on. We were listening to stuff and kind of taking a walk down memory lane. The stuff that we were born and raised on is the stuff that still pulses through our veins today. Whatever comes out next will be very true to it whether it sounds like rock or not, I don’t know.”
