Linkin Park Have Some "Special Things Planned" For The 20th Anniversary Of Hybrid Theory

There are some absolutely huge albums turning 20 years old this year, from Deftones' White Pony to Limp Bizkit's Chocolate Starfish… and Marilyn Manson's Holy Wood. Also amongst these legendary names is Linkin Park, and their game-changing debut, Hybrid Theory – and the band have announced that they will be celebrating its release "throughout the year".

“This year we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Hybrid Theory," Linkin Park say. "We have some special things planned throughout the year and want you to be a part of it.

"We’re looking for photos, videos, ticket stubs, merch, flyers, souvenirs and anything else you collected from the early days of the band in the late ’90s through the Hybrid Theory era of 2000-2002. Some great examples include (but are not limited to) live concert footage and photos, pictures of band members and signed goodies from LPU meet and greets.”

Kerrang! recently spoke to Mike Shinoda about his plans for 2020 and what message he'd like to send to Linkin Park fans, to which he responded, “The last couple of years have been all about gratitude for me. I hope that fans can share in that perspective and spirit.”

Discussing the lessons from the last year that he'll carry forward with him, Mike continued: “I feel like I got a new appreciation and experience with improvisation and spontaneity. I’ve spent so many years in a band whose structure is very rigid – partially because it has such a big identity, and partially because you have to be organised in order to keep such a big train moving. But with my solo stuff, it was all so much smaller and more malleable. I think I learned a lot about simply riding the wave.”

In related news, Chester Bennington’s pre-Linkin Park band, Grey Daze, will be releasing their new album Amends in April – pre-order it right here.
