Metallica Release S&M2 For Whom The Bell Tolls Video

Metallica have released the footage of their orchestra'd-up version of For Whom The Bell Tolls from their S&M2 live album, ahead of its release next Friday (August 28).

The show was caught last year when Metallica were invited to open the new San Francisco Chase Center. Teaming up once more with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, with whom they performed the original S&M shows in 1999, they took the original idea and expanded massively, including pure classical pieces, variations of new songs, and a mind-blowing reimagining of Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth), played on an upright bass.

Metallica also recently filmed a set for their forthcoming Drive-In shows, to be shown in drive-ins across America on August 29.

“It’s great to be playing again, great to be back together with the fellas,” drummer Lars Ulrich told Kerrang! in an exclusive interview.

“There weren’t as many people as we’re used to, but the joy of playing together and getting the chance to play at any level kind of supersedes any of that. So now we’re just riding high on the fact that it’s still possible to connect with each other at the moment. We’ll get it into the drive-ins, see what happens, then continue to experiment and reach as many fans as possible in the best ways we can. And it was good to get out of the house!”
