Following the awesome alt.rock of her May cover of Jack Off Jill's Fear Of Dying, Poppy is continuing to embrace her scuzzier side on surprise new single Her.

The track follows the release of the recent EAT (NXT Soundtrack) EP, and sees the artist teaming up with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen and mixer Darrell Thorp, with Poppy and her band recording live to tape for a fresh new approach (and you can definitely hear it)⁣⁣⁣⁣. The accompanying music video, meanwhile, is directed by stop-motion animator Chris Ullens.

Poppy told Kerrang! in December about her love for heavy music and if that will feed into a new album: "I’d say yes to that. Though the new album that I’ve made is going to be left open to interpretation by the listener, I would say that it still has the influence of heavy music."

Give her a face
Give her a name
That isn't hers
Then make her yours
Say she's adored
Call her a whore
Then pick her up
Throw her on the floor

I'm getting to know her
And all of her anger
You won’t recognize her
If you encountered
I'm getting to know her
And all of her anger
Picked herself up
Put her back together

Give her a taste
Take it away
Under your thumb
Tell her to stay
Don't say a word
Don't disobey
When she woke up
She ran away

Run your mouth to keep her scared
You expected her to care
But when her mind made up
You were illfully prepared
Have you observed
And what have you learned
The girl that you knew
Will never be yours
