Some people might not remember, but in 2009, Rob Zombie was slated to remake The Blob, the 1950s sci-fi horror classic that got remade already in 1988. Zombie described his version as "a totally different take" that was "pretty dark." But before the movie saw the light of day, Zombie put the kibosh on the project due to creative differences, and because he wanted to step away from remakes after the backlash to his version of John Carpenter's classic Halloween.

Now, Bloody Disgusting reports that concept art for Zombie's The Blob by artist Alex Horley has surfaced, and oh man, it looks awesome! The movie seems to take the titular creature's infectiousness to new levels, including reanimated blob-people digging up corpses and a giant monolith of horror acting as the blob's focal point. Say whatever you want about Rob Zombie's movies--this looks like it would've been awesome.
