Slipknot Teasing Thursday Announcement – Will We See New Masks?

It looks like Slipknot are gearing up for the big reveal on Thursday. With their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel this Friday looming, the Iowa wrecking machine have posted a cryptic video on social media and official website.

The video shows flickering, jittery images of various Slipknot music videos and promotional photos throughout the band's career, depicting the evolution and variation in their masks over the previous five albums. Could this be teasing the sixth generation of Slipknot masks?

The clip on Slipknot's website includes a counter than starts at zero and ends at 0516, which the eagle-eyed amongst you will know corresponds to the date May 16. Surely, with their first TV appearance in years coming on May 17, Slipknot are going to unveil the new masks ahead of time.

What's more tantalising though is that we might get to hear new music too. Maybe not on Thursday, but will Slipknot debut something special on Jimmy Kimmel? The audience is huge so it makes sense.

This is just the latest teaser clip to come from camp Slipknot. Recently, the band posted an Instagram video of a flight case and release date, and frontman Corey Taylor shared a blurry image of what is presumably his new mask.

Corey also underwent double knee surgery last Friday (May 10), and shared his ordeal on social media. It's going to be intense night on Jimmy Kimmel if Taylor needs new knees for the broadcast.

Slipknot are headlining Download festival in the UK on June 14-16 – get your tickets now.
