Alice In Chains Reveal First Trailer For Black Antenna Film Project
If their recent videos didn’t tip you off, Alice In Chains have a good eye for solid filmmaking and visual motifs that match their music. But the band’s new trailer for Black Antenna, a 10-part visual adaptation of their latest album, Rainier Fog, might put everything they’ve done in the past to shame.
Black Antenna, produced and directed by filmmaker Adam Mason, is a 90-minute sci-fi epic inspired by the music on Rainier Fog, which will be released in ten short episodes starting this month. From what we can gather from the trailer, the film centers around an alien or interdimensional being hiding among us, who is being chased by some sort of shady law enforcement agency (we THINK? It’s a very weird trailer). The vibe the trailer gives off is something along the lines of Stranger Things meets Sicario.
“We’ve always toyed with the idea of creating videos for every song on one of our albums,” explains drummer Sean Kinney. “Not only did we do that for Rainier Fog, it got totally out of hand and we made a whole goddamn movie. Everything that will be seen in the videos will be footage from Black Antenna to preface the complete film’s release.”

The first two episodes of Black Antenna will come out March 7th.
A project this size is certainly ambitious for any band, even one as large as Alice In Chains. But as Jerry Cantrell himself put it, being a rock star is never about playing things safe.
