Korn have shared a cryptic image on Instagram, which has sent internet sleuths into a frenzy.

The sepia-toned image shows a message board – similar to those outside of churches in the United States – with the nonsensical phrase "EHE DENITA WONT EOWG VO TELRGID".

But this isn't a result of a cat walking across a keyboard, as Korn fans pointed out, the letters can be rearranged to say The Devil Went Down To Georgia – the title of a classic country song by The Charlie Daniels Band.

Is this a hint at a Korn cover of the 1979 track? It certainly wouldn't be the first time Korn have tackled another artist's songs, with covers of Cameo's Word Up! and Pink Floyd's Another Brick In The Wall to their name.

In fact, there is a long-rumoured Korn covers record still in the works. Reports of the project began circulating around 2004 but we're yet to see it come to fruition, although maybe the lockdown has given the Bakersfield crew some time to work it out.

Stay tuned to Kerrang! for the latest updates on whatever Korn are up to.
