Vocalist Andy LaPlegua tackles themes of fear and anxiety with a heavy track accompanied by terrifyingly creepy visuals.

Combichrist's New Video For Understand Is Weird As F--k

"Today is not the right day to fall apart," says Combichrist vocalist Andy LaPlegua to himself at the opening of his band's new video for Understand. Though, admittedly, viewers of the electro-industrial metal act 's new video might have trouble keeping it together watching this twisted, disturbing work of art.

Two months after debuting their lyric video for One Fire's first single, Hate Like Me, Combichrist have released the first true music video from their upcoming album, One Fire, due out June 7 on Out of Line Music -- and it certainly does not disappoint. The creepy, dystopian short film depicts a space traveler waking after a long fall, only to find herself trapped in what can only be described as a Lynchian nightmare filled with old men who eat pills from dead foxes' mouths, twins conjoined at the face, and neck-chained slaves with octopus tentacles for heads.

See for yourself below:

"This might be the most important music video I've ever made," explains Andy, who collaborated with director Jason Alacrity to bring this insane visual spectacle to life. "I'm addressing themes and personal feelings that to date I've kept hidden. Anxiety, fear, the unknown, and how they take a toll on people's lives, on my life. This is the third video I've made with Jason, and his ability to translate these wild impulses and different ideas was a great challenge. But he, and the cast, really did an amazing job making the song come to life in an even more intense way. 'Understand' isn't just about knowing, it's about learning."

As Andy points out, pain doesn't always manifest on the surface -- and One Fire, as an entire album, picks up where Understand leaves off to further explore themes of mental illness and rebellion.

"While physical damage is accepted and very obvious in our society, hidden health problems, such as mental illness, are regarded as 'just being in your head,' Andy says. "I'm trying to let the listener into the mind of someone who's struggling to get by every day."
