With the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame coming under fire lately for its lack of metal in 2021, Corey Taylor has called the institution "a pile of garbage".

The Slipknot frontman tells Andy Hall (via Blabbermouth) that the Iowa metal titans would likely follow in the footsteps of the Sex Pistols and decline an induction were they ever asked, explaining that he doesn't care about the Rock Hall, and that they "don't honour anything except pop music, really, and they only really induct real rock bands when they have to cave to pressure".

The Great Big Mouth continues, "They disrespected so many bands over the past by putting others in before the ones that actually deserve it, that I would probably go the way of the Sex Pistols. I'd be, like, 'Your Hall is a sham. I don't care if I'm a part of it or not. You have no idea what the spirit of rock'n'roll is actually about. So take this and shove it up your you-know-what.'

"So, that's basically where I'm at. And, obviously, I'm not getting any brownie points, and I probably will never be nominated, but I don't really care."

In May, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame CEO Greg Harris argued that they do properly celebrate metal.

"It’s an interesting one, because we do [celebrate metal]," he said. "We celebrate all forms of rock’n’roll… We nominated [Iron] Maiden, Judas Priest have been nominated [in the past], we put Def Leppard in.

"Those that are nominated, over 80 per cent of them eventually do get inducted. So it’s really a question of: let’s keep nominating them, let’s get 'em on the ballot, and let’s get it out to the voting body. This [year's] ballot had 16 artists on it. They just can’t all go in.”
