Deafheaven Bassist Severely Injured In Cycling Accident
Blackgaze pioneers Deafheaven are often credited as having reshaped metal to make it more beautiful and thoughtful. But sadly, violence sometimes befalls us whether we like it or not.
Deafheaven bassist Chris Johnson was in a severe cycling accident, which, among other injuries, cost him several teeth. A crowdfunding page on Go Get Funding has been launched to help him with his medical expenses while he gets back on his feet.
Here’s a photo of Chris below; those readers with a weak stomach, get ready.
In the caption for the campaign, Chris wrote, “This is a fundraiser to help cover medical costs from a recent bicycle accident, which resulted in me losing everything from my dignity (lol) to some teeth and beyond. I’ve had a few close friends suggest that I do something like this to help cover some of the expenses, so here we are, BUT, I’m going to work for it.”
For all of us here at Kerrang!, we wish Chris a speedy recovery.
Deafheaven’s new release is comprised of the set they would have been performing this year were it not for COVID.
Lamb Of God and FEVER 333’s Jason Aalon Butler have teamed up for a live quarantine cover of Bad Brains’ I Against I.
