From Deftones to Jon Hopkins: The icons who inspired Charlie Simpson
Between Fightstar and Busted, Charlie Simpson is a lord of both alt.metal and pop-rock. Where does he get it from? Nu-metal, grunge, and vibey electro, mainly…
"They are very powerful…" reveals Chino Moreno.
We've all been absolutely stoked at Deftones' recent writing session pics, and now Chino Moreno has not only confirmed that the band are definitely working on their ninth album – he's also commented on some of their new music.
Speaking to Rock.com.ar (via Theprp.com) the frontman says: “There are six or seven songs, which are still mutating. They are very powerful, and I am anxious because, as I told you before, it has been a collaborative process.”
After guitarist Stef Carpenter initially admitted having some issues getting involved with Deftones' latest album Gore, Chino has also reassured fans that there are no such problems this time.
“Most of his problems were not about Deftones, but about personal things,” the vocalist says. “The best part is that now we are writing songs for the new album, and unlike Gore, it’s been a joint effort.”
There's no news yet as to when we can expect the new record, but it's safe to say that this sounds very promising indeed…
The band will be returning to the UK next month, with an appearance at Meltdown Festival in London.
