Extreme Metallers Exmortus Have Covered The Beetlejuice Theme Tune

Exmortus have given Danny Elfman’s classic Beetlejuice theme a metal makeover

Thirty-one years after the release of Tim Burton’s classic horror comedy Beetlejuice, its theme tune has been given a metal makeover by extreme metallers Exmortus. The California band also made a pretty cool video to go with it, which you can watch below.

The cover – which actually sounds really cool in its newly metal-fied guise – is going to appear on the band’s new Halloween-themed EP, Legion Of The Undead. The five-track release, which comes out on October 25, also includes two brand new songs – the title track and Swallow Your Soul – as well as covers of two other instrumentals.

One is version of Bernard Hermann’s Psycho Theme, from the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller, and the other is a take on Night On Bald mountain, a composition by 19th century Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky.

It sounds like the perfect soundtrack to put on when you’ve finished trick and treating with your friends and want to just chill out and eat all your sweets.

It’s not the first time that music by Danny Elfman has been given a metal twist. In 2008, the soundtrack to The Nightmare Before Christmas was reissued as Nightmare Revisted. It featured Marilyn Manson’s take on This Is Halloween, which had first been released a couple of years prior, as well as The All-American Rejects playing Jack’s Lament, Flyleaf’s version of What’s This?, Korn’s cover of Kidnap The Sandy Claws and Rise Against’s rendition of Making Christmas, among others.

Exmortus will be touring the U.S. and Canada in November and December with Death Angel. The dates are as follows:
