FEVER 333’s Jason Aalon Butler Shares Cover Of Joni Mitchell’s California
Jason Aalon Butler has unearthed a cover of Joni Mitchell’s California that he recorded over a decade ago.
The FEVER 333 frontman shared his version of the 1971 folk hit on Soundcloud for all to hear.
“About 13 years ago I recorded some cover songs,” said Jason on Instagram. “1 of them was a Joni Mitchell song as it was my then girlfriend’s favorite song. I fell in love with the song and then Joni herself after this cover. The content, the approach, the fucked up guitar tuning that made me have to essentially relearn guitar. All of it was so impressive.
“I figure enough time has passed to where this song can now be shared and take on new meaning for those that might be interested in hearing my rendition of a folk pop queen. It lives in a cloud of sound titled.”
Jason recently unveiled his artist-oriented collective/record label 333 Wreckords Crew, and its first signing Guerilla Warfare.
“When I started this project it was quite literally built upon a foundation of community,” said Jason. “In my mind this community would thrive due to its unique focus on ethics, progressiveness, a symbiotic structuring and, of course, dope art. I believe that the difference between myself and many other record labels (especially most established ones) is that I am not here to make money off of my artists. I am an artist who wants to create a structure that challenges the current music creation process and disrupts the way it is distributed. I will do this by working with my artists. So we all have a stake in the fulfillment and success of the art.”
