In less than two weeks' time, New York's legendary Madison Square Garden will finally reopen for a proper full-capacity show for the first time in 15 months – and Foo Fighters are headlining the event.

"We've been waiting for this day for over a year," enthuses frontman Dave Grohl. "And Madison Square Garden is going to feel that hard. New York, get ready for a long ass night of screaming our heads off together to 26 years of Foos."

Executive chairman and CEO of MSG Entertainment, James Dolan, adds: "The Garden is ready to rock. We've been waiting for this moment for 15 months and are excited to finally welcome a packed house of roaring, fully vaccinated Foo Fighters fans to Madison Square Garden."

Indeed, on that note it is going to be a requirement that over 16s are fully vaccinated in order to attend, as the gig will be mask-free ("Face coverings are not required for fully vaccinated individuals while inside The Garden. Unvaccinated children will need to wear face coverings, except while actively eating or drinking"). The ticket website explains: "Guests must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination – Final Dose 14 Days Before Event. For more information visit msg.com/faqs. Because of overwhelming demand for these events, in order to accommodate as many guests as possible, Madison Square Garden is complying with New York State mandates that require all guests to be fully vaccinated in such circumstances."

Under 16s, meanwhile, "may provide proof of a negative antigen COVID-19 test, negative PCR COVID-19 test, or full vaccination".
