Dave Grohl saluted "teachers everywhere" – including his own mother, Virginia – as Foo Fighters welcomed Joe Biden into the White House during January 20's inauguration event, Celebrating America.

The rock titans joined a line-up also featuring the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and Lady Gaga to celebrate Joe Biden's new presidency as they performed a stunning, initially stripped back rendition of their 2002 One By One classic, Times Like These.

“This year our teachers were faced with unprecedented challenges, but through dedication and creativity, they faced those challenges head-on,” said Dave ahead of the performance. “So this next song is for Mackenzie [Adams, Washington kindergarten teacher] and all of our unshakable teachers that continue to enlighten our nation’s kids every day.”

And it's not the first time Dave has shown his love and respect for teachers, either. Last summer, he spoke of his mother's experience of teaching and the topic of kids attending school in the pandemic: “Now 82 and retired, she runs down a list of concerns based on her 35 years of experience: masks and distancing, temperature checks, crowded bussing, crowded hallways, sports, air-conditioning systems, lunchrooms, public restrooms, janitorial staff. Most schools already struggle from a lack of resources. How can they possibly afford the mountain of safety measures that will need to be in place?”

Foo Fighters' new album Medicine At Midnight is due out on February 5 via Roswell Records/Columbia Records.
