Foos to make insane prog-rock record”?

Dave Grohl hints at possible unexpected direction of Foo Fighters’ next album…

Medicine At Midnights only been out half a year, and Dave Grohl’s already talking about Foo Fighters’ next album.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the frontman explained how the band make their next move from album to album, and joked about the possible seed of a more off-the-wall idea than the more poppy tunes on their most recent opus.

Every album that we’ve made is a response to the one we made before,” he said. So now there are whispers of making an insane prog-rock record.”

A double-disc love letter to Canadian prog heroes Rush? Dave and Taylor Hawkins are big Rush nerds, and the latter played drums on Coheed And Cambrias 2007 album No World For Tomorrow. Which was basically what Foos would sound like if they pressed the prog’ button.

Earlier this week, Foos picked up the first-ever Global Icon Award at the VMAs. Presenting the band with the gong, Billie Eilish praised them for their unwavering tenacity and long-standing dedication to rock‘n’roll.

They put their heart into every single song, and leave it all on the stage every time,” she said.“They’ve carried the torch of rock’n’roll for 26 years.

They have 12 GRAMMYs, seven Platinum albums, two VMAs, and this year they’ll be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. They are heroes, they are legends, and now they’re officially Global Icons.”

Accepting the honour, Dave admitted“it’s quite an award to receive”. After a speech thanking those who have helped them along the way, the frontman concluded:“We’ll see you in 26 years.”
