According to their official Twitter, Good Charlotte have just announced the cancellation of the remainder of their tour dates due to a “very personal and unexpected loss” in their family.

The whole statement reads:

“GC fans everywhere, it is with great disappointment that we have to announce the cancellation of our remaining summer tour dates. This year has been one of the most challenging years for our band, as we’ve been dealing with a very personal and unexpected loss in our family. We have to take the time to focus on our families and our well being.

Thank you for the love and support you’ve given us, we hope you know the genuine appreciation we have for you all. We hope to see you all very soon. Love, GC”

Earlier this year, founding member Benji Madden spoke to Kerrang! and said, “Good Charlotte is an extremely beautiful, extremely valuable vintage car that I take meticulous care of, that I like driving on the weekends and that I’m very proud of. Old cars run forever if you take care of them.” We’re glad that means taking time to take care of themselves in times of grief, too.

From everyone at Kerrang!, our hearts go out to the guys and we hope they and their families are alright. Hopefully they’ll get back on the road when the time is right.
