Green Day Are Donating Free Coffee To Voters At Polling Stations

Standing in line to vote will make you tired. It will also make you thirsty. If only there was some sort of solution to both issues. Enter Oakland punk legends and pragmatic beverage-ists Green Day, who have come up with a wheeze to navigate around this twin-horned problem: they’re giving away cups of coffee to those in the queue to flex their democratic muscles in their home city.

The band’s Oakland Coffee Works has teamed up with World Central Kitchen to hand out 10,000 cups to parched voters.

“We need to look out for and support each other out there. You know how important your vote is,” says bassist Mike Dirnt. “We want to make it a little easier for everyone, so we’re donating up to 10,000 cups of coffee to voters in line at the Oakland polls. World Central Kitchen is making the voting experience much nicer, which is really important these days.”

Fans already had the chance to get a taste of the band’s roast earlier this year when, for the release of their Father Of All… album in February, they launched the similarly-titled Father Of All Motherfuckin' Roasts. In a frankly noisy and over-excited social media post, they boasted it was the “DARKEST OF THE DARK YET SHOCKINGLY SMOOTH. IT WILL KICK YOUR ASS AND SOOTHE YOUR SOUL.” We just wanted a drink, but cool, lads...
