Tool Taylor Swift Mash Up

This Tool/Taylor Swift Mash-Up Will Make You Question Everything

Pretend like you don’t kind of dig this mash-up of Taylor Swift and Tool’s Stinkfist.

This week saw prog-metal titans Tool dropping their first full-length album in 13 years. The record, Fear Inoculum, has been hailed by fans and critics alike. But the general consensus seems to be that while Fear Inoculum is fantastic, it’s lacking in one department: high school drama about ex-boyfriends. Thankfully, one YouTube user has decided to give fans what they really want by creating a mash-up of Tool and Taylor Swift. Hallelujah.

The track is a combination of the song Stinkfist from Tool’s 1996 album Ænima and We Are Never Getting Back Together from Taylor Swift’s metal-as-fuck 2012 album Red. And the truth is, while this combination is goofy as Hell… it kind of works. The way Taylor’s vocals have been laid throughout Stinkfist is pretty genius, and the dichotomy of Tool’s dire, gut-churning sewer metal and Taylor’s chirpy lyrics about her high-maintenance boyfriend is solidly hilarious. It also makes Taylor Swift somewhat palatable for metalheads, which is certainly a feat unto itself.

Make sure no-one’s around and watch the mash-up below:

Ho boy.
