Korn Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer To Sit Out Of Upcoming Shows

Unfortunately for Korn diehards, guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer will be sitting out of shows from August 6th to the 11th due to the impending birth of his child. His replacement will be JR Bareis of Spoken and formerly of Islander, who is also in the band Love And Death with Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch.

In an Instagram post, Munky explained the situation, writing: “Since our family is waiting any day now for the birth of our daughter, I won’t be performing starting on Tuesday August 6th through Sunday August 11th .I’ll be back in Detroit. I’m going to miss you all very much on those dates. But, you’re in great hands with our close friend and brother @jrbareis95 who is filling in for me…and of course the rest of @korn_official who will carry the load.

Thank you to all of our fans for your understanding and support!”

These shows are from Korn’s current tour with Alice In Chains, FEVER 333, Underoath, and Ho99o9. The tour leads up to the release of Korn's new album, The Nothing, which drops September 13th via Roadrunner/Elektra.
