Leeched Announce New Album For January 2020, Release Horrific Music Video
The power of Leeched is their complete lack of mercy or compromise. With each album, the Manchester trio have further distilled all of the most hostile elements of all of your favorite genres of music: the roar of hardcore, the charge of grindcore, the pneumatic force of industrial, the serrated-edge rip of thrash metal, the death-worshipping imagery of goth. This combination results in a pure, unholy reduction that is not only absolutely enthralling from the get-go, but more and more punishing with each listen. Now, the band have announced the release of the next chapter in their campaign of merciless sonic conquest, To Dull The Blades Of Your Abuse, due out this January on Prosthetic Records.
The announcement of this new album comes with a video for the track Earth And Ash, a perfect visual representation of what Leeched are all about. The video is gut-punching blast of imagery that feels as though it’s been beamed into your dreams by the rabid, murderous track it accompanies; much like To Dull The Blades Of Your Abuse itself, the footage could be dissected, but is too jarring and enrapturing to warrant a lot of banter. There is a faint hint at a narrative — hooded figure crawling in the filth, haunted by masked phantoms who look ready to butcher the world — but most important is its atmosphere, the gorge-swelling sensation that the imagery inspires in the viewer.
According to vocalist/bassist Laurie Morbey, “This video was created to show what will one day become a reality. All the games we play will cease to matter. And all the money we own will cease to hold value. This world doesn’t care about you or your benevolent good nature. It doesn’t care about your past achievements. In the grim darkness of the future there is only despair and depravity.”
