It's finally here! The new Green Day album, Father Of All…, is out today – and you can stream it in full (all 26 minutes of it…) right now.

The 10-song release, which goes by the full, uncensored name Father Of All Motherfuckers, is quite possibly the biggest left turn of the Oakland heroes' entire career. Inspired by jam sessions and playlists curated by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, the genre-hopping music found within album number 13 is a far-cry from its radio-ready predecessor, Revolution Radio.

“We got together and jammed, and it was noise," Billie Joe told Kerrang! last year. "We did these long jam sessions and we put up lights and video all over the rooms, and it was just fun. It felt more like a happening than it did rehearsal. And I have to say, none of it really sounded good. It was just fun and we were making a mess. And I think with Green Day, the first thing that comes to mind with making a record is making a mess first.”

Of the playlists that the frontman was putting together for his bandmates to absorb, bassist Mike Dirnt added: “There were songs in there that I was like, ‘I’ve never fucking heard this before – this is crazy.' Getting in these different, creative headspaces and digging deep. And we all individually dig into new places on our instruments, because that’s just what we do. We love to chase down new things. I was buying these crazy ’70s hip-hop records and playing along with them. I didn’t even know what they were called – some of it was just drum rhythms. It was cool.”

In this week's issue of Kerrang!, we asked Billie Joe about the album title – and if we should be calling it Father Of All… or Father Of All Motherfuckers.

“For the adults, it’s called Father Of All Motherfuckers, and then for the kids and for the censorship, it’s Father Of All…” he laughed. “It’s always been Father Of All…, pretty much. I did the artwork and I scribbled ‘Father Of All Motherfuckers’ on the American Idiot album cover. Someone said, ‘You’re never going to be able to get ‘Motherfuckers’ on there,’ and I go, ‘Well, just make everybody happy and just put a fucking unicorn on it!’ And then I drew a unicorn and put it over it. So it’s kind of funny, because the unicorn has become this icon.”
