As Machine Gun Kelly scooped two Billboard Music Awards last night (May 23), the 31-year-old – real name Colson Baker – also showed off an unsurprisingly out-there look for the event: he painted his tongue black.

Documenting himself getting ready before the ceremony, MGK took to Instagram to show fans how he applied what must be black paint or dye to his tongue as a "special accessory", as well as painting his nails black and white to match.

Machine Gun Kelly beat AC/DC, AJR, Five Finger Death Punch and twenty one pilots to win the Top Rock Artist award, as well as scoring the Top Rock Album for last year's Tickets To My Downfall (fighting off AC/DC's POWER UP, Miley Cyrus' Plastic Hearts, Glass Animals' Dreamland, and Bruce Springsteen's Letter To You).

He missed out on also winning Top Rock Song, though, with AJR's Bang! beating my ex's best friend, as well as All Time Low's Monsters, Glass Animals' Heat Waves and twenty one pilots' Level Of Concern. Still, congrats on two awards out of three, MGK!
