Manowar Cancel Hellfest Headline Set Despite Being At The Festival

French enormofest Hellfest kicked off last night (June 20) in Clisson but Friday night headliners Manowar have cancelled their set, despite already being there.

No word has been given on why the power metal mainstays have pulled out of Hellfest, but the event's official Facebook page posted the following statement:

"Despite an on-site presence on Thursday 20 June, the teams and members of the Manowar band decided to leave the festival site.

"The concert of the artist Manowar scheduled this Friday, June 21 will not be possible for reasons beyond our control.

"We are sincerely sorry for all the fans of this artist and more broadly for all the fans of Hellfest."

There's been no confirmation of a last-minute replacement headliner or if sub-headliners Dropkick Murphys are going to step up into the top slot.

Last night, Slipknot brought their Knotfest event to Hellfest, playing alongside Rob Zombie, Amon Amarth and Behemoth. KISS are scheduled to headline Saturday night and Tool will close the show on Sunday.
