Mastodon To Release New “Heavy” Music Soon
Mastodon have revealed exclusively to Kerrang! that they have recorded a new, heavy song and it’s coming our way soon.
Last month Mastodon gathered in their new Atlanta recording studio to record the first new material since 2017’s incredible Emperor Of Sand. They won’t tell us all the full details, but guitarist Brent Hinds describes one song as “a fun listen.”
Guitarist Bill Kelliher goes further to say it’s both “a basher” and “brutal”, while drummer Brann Dailor says “It’s as heavy as I’ve heard us in a while.”
As noted in the upcoming issue of Kerrang!, the song is currently scheduled for a digital release ahead of Mastodon’s upcoming UK shows (starting next week). It’s also going to feature Neurosis’ Scott Kelly, hopefully for some of that extra heaviness.
We want to hear it now!
Mastodon are on the cover of this week’s issue of Kerrang!, on sale Wednesday January 9. Available in stores and from Newstand.

“I remember I was really locked in that coffin and they actually buried myself alive…”
