Dave Mustaine says David Ellefson’s bass parts have been re-recorded for new Megadeth album

Following the departure of David Ellefson in May, Megadeth have re-recorded the ex-bassist’s parts on their upcoming album with another musician.

Dave Mustaine has stated that former bassist David Ellefson’s parts on the upcoming Megadeth album have already been re-recorded by another musician.

David and the band parted ways in May following an online scandal, with Megadeth then going in and replacing what had already been done for the follow-up to 2016’s Dystopia. Speaking to a fan via celebrity video website Cameo (and transcribed by Blabbermouth), the frontman reveals of the progress that’s been made on the record: It won’t be long. It’s a matter of finishing the parts when I get home [to Tennessee from holidaying in Florida] today and tomorrow. Our bass parts are all done. And it won’t be long.”

Dave also compares a track on the album called The Dogs Of Chernobyl to 2015 song Fatal Illusion, telling the fan on Cameo: Actually, we’ve got one song on the new album – it’s called The Dogs Of Chernobyl – which is very similar to Fatal Illusion in aggression. So I hope you like that song when you get the new record.”

Last June, Dave proudly stated that album number 16 ranks within the top five records of Megadeth’s career.

I think this is probably in the top four records as far as towards the tip of the spear with our career and everything that we’re doing,” he said. It’s up there with Countdown [To Extinction], Rust In Peace and probably Peace Sells. The other one I would say is Dystopia. So that would round up my top five.”
