Megadeth to reveal new mystery bass player” soon

Dave Mustaine has shown Megadeth’s mystery bass player” on Cameo, and revealed that we’ll find out who it is soon…

Celebrity video site Cameo is proving to be a helpful – if surprising – tool to glean information on all things Megadeth at the moment, with Dave Mustaine telling a fan via the service last week that departed bassist David Ellefson’s parts had already been re-recorded for their new album. This week, Dave is teasing his replacement.

In a video message (which has since been uploaded to Reddit), the frontman is seen wandering around the studio and showing producer Chris Rakestraw sitting back there on the console”, before spinning around to film the new bassist lying down on the floor.

And you got our mystery bass player hiding behind the chair down there on the floor, so you can’t see him,” says Dave (via Loudwire). We will be saying who that is soon, and you actually saw him before anybody else – even though you can’t actually see him…”

With Megadeth’s Metal Tour Of The Year alongside Lamb Of God, Trivium and In Flames kicking off on August 20, you’d have to imagine we’ll be finding out about their new member before those shows begin, so keep your eyes peeled.

Last June, Dave stated that the new Megadeth record ranked within the top five of the band’s career.

I think this is probably in the top four records as far as towards the tip of the spear with our career and everything that we’re doing,” he said. It’s up there with Countdown [To Extinction], Rust In Peace and probably Peace Sells. The other one I would say is Dystopia. So that would round up my top five.”

Check out Dave’s recent Cameo update below. And ood luck working out who that bassist is…
