Metallica To Release Live Donington ‘87 Tracks On Vinyl
Metallica will be releasing a pair of live tracks from their 1987 Donington performance on vinyl for the very first time.
The announcement came in an email to the Metallica Vinyl Club – the band’s subscription service, which provides exclusive rarities to fans.
While explaining the delay in manufacturing vinyl due to current circumstances, the Metallica Club revealed that the first vinyl shipment will “feature a pair of live tracks from our visit to the hallowed grounds of Castle Donington back in 1987.”
Metallica played the Monsters Of Rock festival on August 22, 1987, alongside headliners Bon Jovi, Dio, Anthrax and W.A.S.P.
We’re not sure which two tracks the Four Horsemen will be including on vinyl, but take a look at the setlist they’ve got to choose from!

Metallica are currently working on new material remotely during this time. As we reported yesterday, bassist Rob Trujillo said they’re already “cultivating new ideas.”
“We communicate every week, which is really great, so we have our connection intact. And what we’ve started doing is basically just really concentrating on our home studios and being creative from our homes and navigating through ideas and building on new ideas,” says Rob.
“We’re excited about cultivating new ideas, to be honest. And everybody’s in a good headspace, for the most part, and that’s pretty much our focus now — let’s have fun with this. That’s part of the reason I got some updated recording gear and I’m putting ideas together and we’re checking kind of each other’s vibes out on new stuff. And that’s pretty much where we’re at.”
