New blink-182 Music Is “Really Aggressive And Really Catchy And Dark And Weird”
Mark Hoppus has already teased that blink-182’s forthcoming new songs sound “like they pick up where Take Off Your Pants and Jacket left off” – but now he’s given even more clues as to what we can expect from the follow-up to California.
Speaking to Zane Lowe and Beats 1, blink’s bassist says: “We are well into the writing of the next record. It’s still in the writing stage, so it will probably change over time but right now it’s really aggressive and really catchy and dark and weird. If you take California and compare it to Enema of the State, I would say that what we’re writing now is more in line with Take off Your Pants and Jacket and the Untitled record.”
How great does that sound?!
Mark has also spoken about bandmate Travis Barker’s health, after the drummer announced he’d had some issues and had been forced to cancel certain dates of the band’s current Las Vegas residency.
“We’ve had two weekends full of shows so far and they were amazing, so much fun,” he continues. “Travis has blood clots in his arms right now, so we’ve had to cancel last weekend and the next weekend and we’re going to reschedule those. But I don’t know what the prognosis or the treatment is yet. I know that Travis is in and out of the doctors this week so hopefully we’ll have some resolution with that. But the intention is to go back and make up those dates and continue our residency because it’s super fun. We have a lot of pyro on the stage and it’s been really fun.”
Tom DeLonge’s Boomer character from blink-182’s First Date video is getting his very own talking plushie.
