Oh, Give Over: Foo Fighters Team Up With Rick Astley At Japanese Festival

The Summer Sonic crowd is treated to one of the strangest collaborations of our times.

Foo Fighters have a new best friend” in the shape of 1980s blue-eyed-soul singer Rick Astley, who joined the band on stage at Japan’s Summer Sonic festival for a more-amplified-than-usual version (hmm, smells a little teen spirited, eh?) of his 1987 UK number one, Never Gonna Give You Up.

The official Foo Fighters Facebook and Twitter accounts both posted a picture of frontman Dave Grohl with Astley after the show, with the caption new best friend” and a URL to that same effect directing to YouTube footage of the unlikely performance.

Props to the comment beneath the post, reading: Bout to get Rock Grohl’d”. Very good, @weoysterfighter. Very good.

Foo Fighters release their ninth studio album, Concrete And Gold, on September 15. The band is currently on tour in the Far East, and hits venues across Europe and America between now and the end of the year. Check the band’s website for full dates, and check out a few highlights below.
