Ozzy Osbourne: I Haven’t Made My Sgt Pepper’s Album Yet

Ozzy Osbourne says he still hasn’t made his favourite album

Ozzy Osbourne has made a lot of albums in his 50-year career – over twenty studio albums between Black Sabbath and his solo project, to be precise. But he says he still hasn’t made his favourite record.

Speaking on Ozzy’s Boneyard on SiriusXM, the Prince Of Darkness says: “I’ve said I haven’t released what I consider my Sgt. Pepper.

You know, my ultimate… So when people say, which is my favourite album? I say I haven’t made it yet.”

Ozzy has spoken in the past about his love for The Beatles, so it’s no surprise he holds their iconic 1967 album in such high regard.

Speaking about the See You On The Other Side boxset, which contains a mindblowing 173 songs from his eleven solo LPs, Ozzy didn’t even know he had written/co-written that many.

You know what? My son said to me; he says, ‘Dad, why are you always so content with what you’ve achieved?’” says Ozzy. “But if I go, ‘Wow, I’ve done 173 songs!’ I can’t take it.”

Oz goes on to discuss what goes through his mind when listening back to his older material, picking out all the mistakes and sections he’d improve. He cites the song S.A.T.O. from 1981’s Diary Of A Madman as a prime example, knowing that he let something go in the studio when he just said ‘That’ll do.’

Ozzy Osbourne has postponed the upcoming U.S. leg of his No More Tours II tour, but he’s back out on the road in the UK with Judas Priest this autumn.
