Pelican Crush With New Track, Cold Hope

Cold Hope is Pelican’s second single off of their upcoming record.

Chicago post-metal quartet Pelican have been gearing up for the release of their long-awaited new record, Nighttime Stories. Now, the group has just shared a brand new track off of the record, titled Cold Hope.

Cold Hope is certainly a heavier one for Pelican, focusing less on the atmospheric side of things that the band usually goes with and more on crafting a real banger. In the mix comes those more psychedelic riffs that keep the track fresh as it progresses.

You can check out the new song here:

On top of releasing a crushing song from their new record, the band has also recently collaborated with famed Chicago brewery Metropolitan Brewing to craft a new beer named after the track. Trever de Brauw says of the collaboration, “Both Pelican and Metropolitan have somewhat limited scopes due to aesthetic limitations we’ve self-imposed: Pelican will always be a niche enterprise because we play instrumental metal; Metropolitan’s brewing output is limited due to the fact that they only brew lagers, which take much longer to brew than ales and therefore tie up the capacity of their equipment. Thus, both of us are pursuing a very specific aesthetic/artistic mission and creating a legacy rather than doing things that might be more immediately profitable.”

Fans in the Chicago area who are interested in hearing the new record, trying the beer, or both can attend a listening/beer release party on May 30th at the Metropolitan Taproom.
