Reading & Leeds 2020 Is Currently “Going Ahead As Planned”

Reading & Leeds have made a statement on the current coronavirus outbreak, reassuring fans that the festival is still on.

With huge tours and festivals across the globe being cancelled or postponed due to the health and travel concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak, the UK’s own Reading & Leeds have reassured fans that the festival is, at this point in time, still going ahead.

While the likes of Download Japan and Coachella have been postponed this year, Reading & Leeds are working to the basis that their August event – headlined by Rage Against The Machine, Stormzy and Liam Gallagher – is still on.

“At this time, Reading/Leeds Festival is going ahead as planned,” the festival say in a statement. “Please be assured that the safety and health of all staff and visitors is our main priority and we are implementing recommendations and instructions appropriately.

“We are closely monitoring official guidance from the World Health Organisation, Public Health England, UK Government, local public health authorities and are working with event promoters and organisers as information evolves.

“If you are attending, please follow the most up to date information on the Coronavirus that is available at: World Health Organisation, UK Government and the NHS.”

Glastonbury recently confirmed that their June event was also going ahead as planned, with Adrian Coombs, the festival’s Head of Event Operations, saying:

“Glastonbury Festival thoroughly plans each year’s event, and puts in place all necessary measures to protect the public and maximise safety.

“We work closely with all of the relevant agencies, including Public Health England and the NHS, and always review our plans as any circumstances change.

“With this in mind and with our 2020 Festival still 16 weeks away, we continue to plan and prepare for the event, whilst at the same time closely monitoring developments with the coronavirus situation.”
