The Pretty Reckless have released a commanding new video for And So It Went
Ahead of the release of upcoming album Death By Rock And Roll on February 12, the band have shared the incredibly fired-up new promo, with Taylor Momsen explaining: “The world has been in such a state of civil unrest. And So It Went basically comes from that vision. As a songwriter, I feel like I’m not here to preach. I use music to observe and communicate what I see around me.
“This song felt like the perfect storm for Tom Morello to join in and rip the sound waves apart with his guitar. It was more than a pleasure having him add his unique and defining sound to the song.”
Guitar god Tom, meanwhile, stated of working with the band: “I got to perform with Taylor Momsen at the Chris Cornell memorial show. We rocked Loud Love and she nailed it – no easy task. Thank goodness she and her band continue to fly the flag for rock’n’roll in a mighty way.”
Discussing the creative process behind Death By Rock And Roll as a whole, Taylor explained in an interview with Kerrang!: “I didn’t have to try to write this album. As a writer, inspiration is something that you always struggle to find, whereas for this record, I had an influx of inspiration whether I wanted it or not. It was this brick that slammed me in the face and went, ‘Here. Here, Taylor. You want something to write about? Here.’ So I didn’t have to try to write it, it kind of just poured out of me in a way that I can’t really describe. We had to start from scratch again, in a way. We’d never made an album without Kato [Khandwala, late producer] before. We lost everything, so we had to really start again from the beginning and learn how to rebuild – both as individuals and together. And I think that that is this weird blessing and curse.”
