This Is What It Would Sound Like If Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy Was By Green Day

Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy in the style of Dookie-era Green Day. This rules.

In July, we found out what Billie Eilish’s smash single Bad Guy would sound like in the style of blink-182, as the track was covered by We Are The In Crowd/SAINTE guitarist Cameron Hurley with a pop-punk twist. And the internet has delivered the goods again in making Bad Guy now sound like a Green Day tune.

YouTuber Nathan Sharp has taken on the challenge of making one of 2019’s biggest pop hits – taken from Billie’s much talked about debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? – sound like it was recorded for Green Day’s legendary 1994 breakthrough album Dookie, and the results are actually pretty brilliant. The only thing we’re disappointed about, in fact, is that Nathan didn’t care to make some sort of Billie Joe Armstrong/Billie Eilish pun in the song’s headline or description. Billie Joe Eilish, perhaps?

Anyway. Check it out…

Green Day celebrated the 25th anniversary of Dookie back in February.

Remember that time 25 yrs ago we put out a record and called it Dookie!” bassist Mike Dirnt posted at the time. Well, believe it or not, Insomniac was almost named Donkie just to fuck with people!!!”

Billie Joe also reflected on its 1994 release, while pondering how they might celebrate such a momentous milestone 25 years later.

We wanted to think of something special to do but we couldn’t quite come up with anything… Maybe play the record in its entirety at the pyramids in Egypt,” he said. Or jam it Machu Picchu? Exclusive in Viggiano? Never quite came to fruition… But never despair. 2019 still has time…”
