This Rap Fan Listening To My Chem For The First Time Is So Wholesome

Though for most of us it feels like only yesterday we were discovering the brilliance of My Chemical Romance, in actual fact it's coming up two decades since the New Jersey titans began their journey in taking over the world. There are still a ton of people out there who have somehow never heard the band, though, as YouTuber JY Tha Pharoah demonstrates with this wholesome reaction video.

The rap fan puts on 2006 LP The Black Parade's lead single Welcome To The Black Parade and anthemic sing-along Teenagers, plus 2004 album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge's iconic opener Helena for the first time, documenting his heartwarming and surprising response to Gerard Way and co.'s brand of rock.

"I went into this video feeling kinda tired, feeling kinda sleepy. Not no more! Not anymore," JY enthuses after Welcome To The Black Parade, before diving into the musicality and many gear changes within the single: "How the song built up with the instrumentation, with the piano and then Gerard's sombre tone and all the other instruments came in, and then it hit that first initial 'boom', right? Gerard's dope singing vocals came in so strong, right? It's like something came over me! I got goosebumps…"

His reactions to Helena and Teenagers are similarly infectious, headbanging along and providing some very intense facial expressions. And, we have to say, we still feel exactly the same way – even after our millionth listen…
