This Simple Plan TikTok Challenge Is Ridiculously Heartwarming
Following on from the hilarious viral challenge in which people would perform Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit on woks and other kitchen apparatus, TikTok users have now come up with another brilliant task: recreating old childhood photos to the sound of Simple Plan’s I’m Just A Kid.
For those who are lucky enough to be self-isolating at home with their families right now, hundreds of creative TikTok accounts have recruited their loved ones to pose for spot-on recreations of old photos from many, many years ago. With most of these users now adults, seeing parents attempting to piggy-back and carry their fully-grown children brings about some hilarious – and genuinely heartwarming – results. And, of course, Simple Plan frontman Pierre Bouvier’s lyrics of, ‘I’m just a kid / And life is a nightmare…’ make for the perfect soundtrack.
“It’s pretty incredible to watch a song we wrote almost 20 years ago bring people together and make them smile,” say the band. “We love seeing every family, sibling, kid, parent, couple and pet owner taking part in the #imjustakid challenge on #TikTok and sharing these amazing videos.
“Thank you for sharing these memories and of you haven’t made one yet, what are you waiting for? We can’t wait to see yours!”
